Architects

Frank Gehry was born in Toronto, Canada on 28th February 1929. His work is often known as the most important work of contemporary architecture. Vanity Fair has labelled him as “The most important architect of our age”.

His best and most well known works are; Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao, Spain. MIT Stata Centre, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Walt Disney concert hall in Los Angeles. Experience Music project in Seattle. Weisman Art museum in Minneapolis. Dancing House in Prague. He will also be the future designer of Dwight D. Eisenhower memorial. His style is often known as Deconstructivism which is often referred to as Post-Structuralist in nature for its ability to go beyond current modalities of structural definition.

Daniel Libeskind was born in Lodz, Poland on May 12th 1946. Libeskind is an American Architect, Artist and Set Designer of Polish-Jewish descent. Libeskind founded Studio Daniel Libeskind in 1989 with his wife and principal design architect. His most well known works include; The Jewish Museum in Berlin, Germany. The extension to Denver Art Museum in the United States. The Grand Canal Theatre in Dublin. The Imperial War Museum North, Salford Quay, England. Michael Lee-Chin Crystal at The Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, Canada. The Felix Nussbaum Haus in Osnabruck, Germany.

Alexadre Chan is the architect who designed the President Juscelino Kubitschek Bridge, Brasilia. The bridge won the Gustave Lindenthal Medal at the International Bridge conference in 2003.

Steven Holl was born in Bremerton, Washington on December 9th 1947. Holl is an American Architect and Water-colourist.founded his own architectural firm. He is well known for work such as; The 1998 Kiasma Contemporary art museu Holl  m, Helsinki, Finland. The 2003 Simmons hall at MIT, Cambridge, Massachusetts. The 2007 Bloch building addition to Nelson-Atkins museum of art in Kansas City, Missouri. The 2009 Linked Hybrid mixed-use complex, Beijing, China. The Pratt Institute Higgins Hall, Brooklyn, NY.

Lluis Domenech I Montaner, December 21st 1850 – December 27th 1923. Montaner was a Spanish Catalan Architect who was highly influential on modernisme catala, the catalan art nouveau/jugenstil movement. He had 45 years experience as a professor of architecture, he played an important role in defining the modernisme arquitectonic in catalonia. The style has become internationally renowned. His building displayed a mixture between rationalism and fabulous ornamentation inspired by Spanish-Arabic architecture and followed the curvilinear design typical of Art Nouveau.
